The aim was to support EnbW with lean innovation methods in order to empower the teams to develop their business ideas and select the best ideas.

Need

EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG is one of the largest energy supply companies in Germany and Europe. With a workforce of around 20,000 employees, they supply electricity, gas, water and energy-related products and services to 5.5 million customers. The aim was to establish tools and provide knowledge for lean innovation and empower employees to independently develop, validate and execute new business ideas by using the innovation platform.

Solution

WhatAVenture supported EnBW by introducing lean innovation methods and providing tools to support the teams in developing their business ideas. 4 teams have been working on prior identified problems to come up with new solutions and incubate that idea in a 6-months acceleration-process.

Benefit

By providing employees with training, useful tools but on the other side with a lot of independency in how to develop their ideas creates a change within the organization and great learning experience. By using the innovation platform the interdisciplinary teams from different locations could also easily collaborate after the kick-off workshop.

WhatAVenture has very successfully managed to confront the participants of the kick-off workshop with the Lean Innovation methods of the startup world in just one day and prepared them for new approaches in the development of our innovation projects.
