From a Curious Intern to a Confident Leader: Karyna’s Career Growth at whataventure

From intern to leadership—Karyna’s story shows what’s possible when talent meets trust. Her journey at WhatAVenture is a powerful example of growing fast through real ownership and learning by doing. A must-read for anyone seeking meaningful career growth.

Karyna’s Career Growth at whataventure

At whataventure, careers grow through real experience, ownership, and learning-by-doing. Karyna’s journey — from intern to Lead Venture Architect and member of our leadership team — shows what’s possible when people are empowered early on.

Getting Started: More Than Just an Internship

Karyna joined whataventure in 2019 after taking part in one of our hands-on Assessment Centers — and immediately saw something different.

“The tasks were creative and entrepreneurial. I worked on distribution strategies and business models that felt meaningful. But what really stuck with me was how welcome the team made me feel. The feedback was thoughtful, and I could tell this was a place I could grow fast.”

That intuition proved right. Within three months, she transitioned from intern to Starter after taking on her first independent project — a sign of the trust and autonomy we offer early on.

Embracing the Learning Curve

Rapid growth comes with its challenges. For Karyna, the early days involved a steep learning curve.

“I had to switch between industries, projects, and tasks quickly. It stretched me mentally, but it also taught me how to absorb new information fast and adapt to different situations.”

She leaned into this phase as a “sponging-up” period — exploring different parts of the business and figuring out how to apply her strengths. Support from her development lead played a key role in helping her navigate it all.

“I learned how to position myself within the team and with clients — and how to spot the right growth opportunities.”

From Doubt to Confidence

Like many in consulting and innovation roles, Karyna experienced imposter syndrome early on.

“You dive into industries you’re not an expert in. I had to remind myself that my value lies in innovation and validation. Seeing positive feedback from clients and colleagues helped shift me from doubt to confidence.”

Instead of pulling back, she leaned in — offering ideas, taking initiative, and showing she was ready for more.

Leading Projects, Shaping Strategy

Today, Karyna leads venture validation projects and contributes to shaping whataventure’s direction.

“I act like an entrepreneur — just without the personal risk. I lead teams, run experiments, and help clients make smart decisions based on real learning.”

In one recent project, she had full ownership over a validation strategy for a new B2B service — from customer interviews to business case development.

“It felt like launching a startup inside a startup. That kind of trust and autonomy is what energizes me.”

Growth That’s Built In

At whataventure, growth is embedded in our structure — with a clear competence matrix, strong development support, early ownership, and a flat, flexible setup.

“Things are shapeable here. You can grow into the role you want by taking initiative and making it yours.”

Advice for New Joiners

Karyna’s advice for anyone starting out?

“Follow the flow. Try things, stay curious, and don’t overthink it. Every new skill adds up. Over time, they all make you a better business builder.”

whataventure is a place where you can shape your journey, take ownership early, and grow into the leader you want to become.
