We are excited to announce that Georg has committed to an Equity Partner role at whataventure.
Over the past 2.5 years, Georg has been a key part of our leadership team, helping shape the direction of our venture portfolio while driving some of our most important company initiatives. His contribution has gone beyond individual projects. He has helped strengthen the foundation for how we systematically build new businesses with corporates.
This step reflects more than career progression. It represents a clear commitment to our long-term mission and the trust we have built together over the past years. Georg’s journey shows what is possible at whataventure when entrepreneurial drive, impact, and cultural fit align.
Georg’s Foundation as a Corporate Venturing Expert: Entrepreneurial to the core
As a serial entrepreneur who has built, exited, and liquidated companies himself, Georg has been instrumental in strengthening whataventure’s systematic approach to venture building. After his studies, Georg quickly moved into management consulting, executing strategy and innovation projects with large corporates. His work on transformation and growth initiatives gave him deep insights into how established organizations operate and why innovation often struggles in execution.
Driven by the urge to build, he decided to leave the advisory world and start companies of his own. He founded and built two companies from scratch. His first venture, an eCommerce business, scaled to significant revenue and was later exited. His second company, a machine learning SaaS venture, raised funding and went through two pivots before it was ultimately liquidated. Experiencing both success and failure shaped his resilience, strengthened his execution mindset, and gave him hands-on insight into what it truly takes to build companies.
The combination of both worlds lays the foundation for Georg’s work at whataventure today: bringing a builder’s perspective into corporate environments and combining entrepreneurial speed and pragmatism with the ability to navigate complex corporate structures.
Why It All Matters Now
Georg is convinced that corporates can no longer rely only on their existing business models. To stay competitive, they need to deliberately build new businesses. Not as side projects, but as structured initiatives anchored in corporate strategy and executed with entrepreneurial rigor.
As he puts it:
“I have experienced what it means to build companies from scratch, to achieve an exit, and to face failure. I have also seen corporates with strong ambition struggle to turn innovation into real business impact. Becoming Partner at whataventure is my personal commitment to enabling long-term corporate survival by systematically building new businesses.”
Welcome as a Partner, Georg. We are excited to keep building together.
